I’m in the midst of updating some of my current offerings (Upwork course, here I come!) as well as laying out ideas for future offerings and what I want to write for my blog.
As I’ve been laying out all my ideas and brainstorming what I want to do, I’ve had many times where I come up empty or feel like I need to be doing things a certain way. Countless times I kept coming to a cross roads at how to do things.
- Should I use WordPress or move my blog over to SquareSpace?
- Should I design everything myself?
- Should I lay things out this way or that way?
- Should I brand different things to be their own “thing” or as something I offer as part of my own brand?
- Should I post this to my blog or to my email newsletter?
Ahh!! Too many options!
Even though these are simple questions, the world we live in can make these types of questions tough when we think about them for too long. It’s so easy to compare ourselves and what we’re doing to others we see online. If we look too much to what others are doing, it’s easy to think that what we’re doing isn’t “right.”
I’ve experienced that when you come to crossroads like this it’s important to take a step back and relax. I had to remind myself that no matter how I choose to do things, as long as I still do them I’m going in the right direction.
Plus, having so many options and ways to do things means that those options will probably still be there later!
I can choose to switch platforms, redesign everything, create a new company, etc!
I had to keep realizing that what’s more important is actually doing. To not get too caught up in the how. To find a decent option or answer, and just do.
